How does the Vimeo team utilize Vimeo Record to make remote work simpler than ever? We're glad you asked.

Here at Vimeo, we’re pretty big fans of video. (But you probably knew that, right?) So when it came time to launch Vimeo Record, our easy screen recording tool, we were hyped to integrate it into our own workflows.

As it turns out, we rep Vimeo Record hard. Team members in every part of the business are now using the tool to streamline their workdays. That's because recorded video is both convenient and incredibly versatile. Video messaging is the perfect solve for everything from training and onboarding new employees to sharing high-level updates with the whole company.

To capture all the ways Vimeo Record is saving our remote workdays, we caught up with tons of Vimeans to hear how they’re using the tool. Here's what they had to say:

Executives

Showing is almost always better than telling. In a more distributed remote work environment, our calendars have been packed with meetings, and our inboxes filled with emails. With time scarcer than ever, that latest meeting you booked, should have been a video.”
Harris Beber, Vimeo CMO

Did you know that employees at video-savvy companies are 75% more likely to rate their employee engagement highly? Executives at Vimeo continue to build internal understanding and empathy daily by conveying personalized messages with Vimeo Record. Rather than typing a long email update, our CMO now simply records messages with his webcam to give company updates a personal touch.

HR

As we navigate remote work life, employees are learning where to find information. When they can’t turn to their desk neighbor and ask directly, this tool helps me provide employees with the tools they need to find information efficiently and independently."
Jessie Durning, Employee Experience Manager at Vimeo

Over 1 in 3 HR professionals say their companies have had to stop certain trainings during the global pandemic. But it doesn’t have to be like that! With Vimeo Record, we’ve been able to easily capture reusable assets like how-to videos, demos, and presentations to onboard and educate team members and spend less on the hard stuff. Vimeo Record lets us capture and iterate on tutorials and training videos, so employees can access vital information on their own time.

Customer support

I usually include a video demonstration of a bug when I escalate issues, and I often do video demonstrations for clients, too. Clients love it because it's not just a general tutorial. I make it for them and address them by their name, so it feels personal. Demonstrating issues on video makes it very clear.”
David Dogan, Vimeo Enterprise Support, OTT

Vimeo Record helps us increase customer satisfaction by allowing teams to resolve support tickets fast. Clear and simple visual walkthrough of the product/UI lets the team solve for problems in just minutes. Bonus: because we make them ourselves, screen recording allows us to customize our support comms. That way, we can personalize our client messaging and ultimately feel more connected with our favorite people — members of the Vimeo community.

Solutions

Instead of having to type up the same explanation of how to use a specific feature, I can simply record myself walking through the process once and send that out to anyone who asks! Not only does it save me time, but recording my screen allows my explanation to be much more effective because it includes the visual of the product UI."
Ari Ross, Technical Program Manager at Vimeo

Onboarding clients to a product is hard — doing it over email is even harder. With Vimeo Record, our Solutions team can easily record demos, explain features, and onboard dozens of clients at once. No more answering one-off questions or typing out lengthy explanations. Vimeo Record allows us to spend less time training (and re-training) and more time improving the customer experience.

Product & engineering

I get often asked by our sales or support teams how a specific feature works. I used to delay replies by days or weeks because it would take 30-60 minutes to explain everything in an email. Since it takes me five minutes to record a reply, I can now answer much faster and unblock my teammates so they can do their best work.”
Markiyan Matsekh, Studio Project Manager at Vimeo

Vimeo Record lets our product team code, demo new products, and share feedback and ideas without cramming their cals with meetings. That means collaboration can happen anytime, anywhere. Vimeo Record makes coordinating different workflows across tons of different time zones quick and easy.
